About Aaron L. Boyd, MD
Aaron L. Boyd, MD, MBA, FACHE, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Norman Regional Health System (NRHS). He is both an executive with his Master’s in Business Administration and a physician who specializes in Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Boyd leads the health system’s more than 3,000 employees. Norman Regional is the second largest employer in the City of Norman.
Dr. Boyd joined Norman Regional in 1999 as an independent practicing Pulmonologist and Intensivist. He served as Chief of Staff for four years and later as NRHS’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO). In 2023, Dr. Boyd became Chief Physician Executive and Vice President at Norman Regional.
Dr. Boyd played a critical role in NRHS’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only did he provide care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit, but he also helped resolve important and unpredictable problems while communicating key decisions across the health system and medical community. During that time, he also served on the COVID Task Force of Oklahoma City Hospital CMOs.
Dr. Boyd graduated from medical school from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and completed residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He earned his MBA in Finance from the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Boyd is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
He enjoys traveling with his wife and time together with his family. He is a big fan of days at the beach, attending major league baseball games, and Oklahoma Sooner football.
