About Michael Martin, MD

Michael Martin, MD, is a board certified neurosurgeon at Norman Regional Neurosurgery Associates. He received his doctor of medicine from the University of Oklahoma where he also completed his residency. He is fellowship trained in the spine specifically by the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Dr. Martin’s special interests include:

  • Degenerative disease of the spine
  • Spinal deformity
  • Cranial trauma

Dr. Martin said he chose to become a neurosurgeon because he enjoys both the technical aspects of neurosurgery and the anatomy and function of the nervous system.

“The biggest reason I chose the field, however, is that the knowledge of the technical and physiologic aspects of neurosurgery allows us to make positive interventions in the lives of our patients in what are often extremely difficult circumstances,” he added.

Dr. Martin said his goal with each patient is to understand their condition from their perspective then he can work with them to create a treatment plan that works best for them.

“If a nonsurgical treatment exists for your condition that you and I both agree is the best course of action we will pursue it. When and if surgery is the proper treatment for you, I will perform the procedure to the best of my knowledge and abilities,” he said.
