Eric Porrit, DO

About Eric Porrit, DO

Dr. Eric Porritt is a true Sooner who grew up right here in Norman! A graduate of Norman High School, he received his Bachelor of Science at the University of Oklahoma. He attended medical school at Touro college of Osteopathic Medicine and did an Orthopedic residency at St. James/Christ hospital Chicago. Dr. Porritt is prior service Army and started his Orthopedic career active duty in Landstuhl Germany where he was selected to deploy to Afghanistan with the elite 160th Forward Surgical Team (FST) where he supported Special Forces operations. Afterwards, his trauma experience led him to help two hospitals transition from community hospitals to level II Trauma Centers, one in Denver CO and the other in Utica NY. He made his way back home to Norman, at OSC in 2022, practicing a full range of general orthopedics. He has a special interest in Hip and Knee replacement in addition to trauma.

Special Interests:

  • Same day Hip & Knee replacement
  • Minimally invasive SuperPATH hip replacement
  • Oxford partial knee replacement
  • Trauma/fracture care
  • Geriatrics Orthopedics
  • General Orthopedics

Despite his strong background in war and civilian trauma, his true love is hip replacement where he has specialized in, from the beginning, the unique SuperPATH approach. This elegant approach is proving to be the most tissue sparring hip replacement approach with some of the lowest rates of complications. He also performs total knee replacements, including the highly touted Oxford partial knee replacement. He believes in a very customizable and personalized approach to practice and surgery rather than the typical “one size fits no-one” approach so commonly seen.

Dr. Porritt’s warmth, personal touch, and high patient satisfaction scores come from his family-oriented core. He is happily married to his high school sweetheart, and they have 5 wonderful children, 1 of which is currently attending OU and another to soon follow in the same footsteps. He is also very active in his local church community. He enjoys an active lifestyle, is an outdoors enthusiast, an avid skier, and still runs Spartan races!

Dr. Porritt took the long way around but always knew he’d come back home to Sooner Nation.
