About Philip C. Bird, MD

Philip Bird, MD, FACG, is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. He has been caring for patients in Norman since 1977.

He specializes in:

  • Acid reflux disease
  • Barrett’s esophagus
  • Colon cancer screening
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Hepatitis B and C
  • Liver disease
  • Small bowel capsule endoscopy
  • Swallowing disorders
  • Ulcerative colitis

He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Internal Medicine in the sub-specialty of Gastroenterology. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.

Other memberships include the Arkansas-Oklahoma Endoscopic Society, American College of Physicians, William Beaumont Endoscopic Society, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American and International Societies of Internal Medicine. Dr. Bird is also a member of the Cleveland/McClain County Medical Society, the Oklahoma State Medical Association, and the American Medical Association.

He has been invited to present lectures on his specialty at meetings of professional organizations, and his research has been published in several medical journals.

Dr. Bird is an active member of the medical staff at Norman Regional Hospital, West Norman Endoscopy Center and Medical Plaza Endoscopy Unit.
