6th Annual Norman Regional Health Foundation Premier Golf Classic Raises $130,000 for Community Health

The 6th Annual Norman Regional Health Foundation Golf Tournament was a day filled with camaraderie, competition and community spirit, all for a great cause. Thanks to the overwhelming support of our sponsors, 184 golfers and dedicated volunteers, we are proud to announce that this year’s tournament raised an impressive $130,000. These funds will go directly towards community health and wellness initiatives that are making a lasting impact in our area.

A Day to Remember

Held on a beautiful day at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, the tournament brought together healthcare professionals, business leaders and community members to swing for a cause. With so many people coming together, the event was not only a chance to enjoy a round of golf but also to support life-changing programs and partnerships aimed at improving the health and well-being of our community.

Here’s a look at some of the Community Health Programs made possible by The Premier Golf Classic:

  • School Health Programs: Norman Regional Health Foundation has partnered with Norman Public Schools to ensure each school has a health program staffed with a nurse or health assistant. Last year alone, these health programs saw 182,294 visits for everything from medication administration and stomach aches to diabetes care. These health assistants and nurses are on the front lines of student health, helping local kids stay in the classroom and thrive.
  • Newcastle Middle School Hygiene Pantry: Recognizing a growing need, the Foundation launched a hygiene pantry at Newcastle Middle School, providing pre-teens with essential personal care products. This initiative helps ensure students have the resources they need to feel comfortable and confident in school, reducing barriers to their learning and personal development.
  • AED Donation to Blanchard Little League: After one of their coaches suffered a heart attack during a game last winter, the Foundation granted an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to the Blanchard Little League Association. This lifesaving equipment is now on hand to ensure rapid response to cardiac emergencies, keeping our community safer.

The Putting Contest and “Survival” Kits for NICU Families

One of the highlights of the day was the putting contest, which raised funds specifically for families with babies in Norman Regional Hospital’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Golfers also had the choice to purchase the Norman Heart and Vascular Associates Golf “Survival” Kits, which was packed with ways teams could advance their ball. NICU baby next to golf ball

The average length of stay for NICU babies ranges from 14 to 30 days. Proceeds from the putting contest and Golf “Survival” Kits will be directed toward a parent fund that helps cover travel and overnight accommodations for families who live far from their babies in the NICU.

Looking Ahead

This year’s golf tournament was a great success, but the impact goes far beyond the green. The funds raised will help expand and sustain programs that improve the health and well-being of our community, from schoolchildren to pre-teens to athletes and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who participated, sponsored or volunteered to make this event possible. We’re already looking forward to next year’s tournament and to continuing this incredible tradition of giving back to the community.
