Behind the microphones of Vital Visions: The Vedala Brothers Podcast are two individuals whose lives intertwine both personally and professionally. Brothers and hosts Krishna Vedala, MD, MPH, MBA, Dipl. ABOM, CSPPM, CSPR, CSBI, FACP and Raghuveer "Veer" Vedala, MD, FAAFP, Dipl. ABOM, Dipl. ABLM bring a variety of experiences to the insightful discussions with their guests on the Vital Visions podcast.
Seasons of Life Spent Side By Side
Dr. Krishna Vedala and Dr. Raghuveer Vedala are brothers who grew up in Edmond, OK. They attended Edmond Memorial High School and The University of Oklahoma for their undergraduate studies.
The brothers went on to attend medical school at The University of Oklahoma – Tulsa School of Community Medicine, completed their residencies in other states and ultimately decided to come back to Oklahoma to practice medicine.
Now, after following the same path through med school, Doctors Krishna and Veer Vedala get to practice medicine together in the same clinics – Norman Regional Primary Care South OKC and Norman Regional Health@The Well.
More than Just Physicians
The two brothers are extremely accomplished, earning a multitude of degrees, certifications and awards. Doctors Krishna and Veer Vedala are both impressively board certified in their respective specialties. Dr. Krishna Vedala is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, and Dr. Veer Vedala is triple board certified in Family Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, and Obesity Medicine.
However, their story isn't just about medical expertise; it's also about their dedication to bridging communication gaps and building a healthier community through education.
Their passion for medicine and their patients is evident in their accomplishments and their continuing desire to learn more. Their ability to dig deep, ask meaningful questions on behalf of patient listeners, and learn new things about different specialties reflects that passion they possess.
“Medicine is not just a profession, but is rather a privilege to understand, to care for and to make a positive difference in the lives of others, one patient at a time,” said Dr. Krishna Vedala.
The brothers are more than just physicians - they are navigators of the complex healthcare landscape, driven by a shared desire to educate and empower. The Vedalas’ podcast is where the science of medicine meets the art of connection.
The Vedalas’ Podcast Dream
Going back to their days in medical school, the Vedala brothers have had a dream to host a medical, health and wellness podcast for years. Luckily for them, that dream of theirs came true here at Norman Regional Health System. Vital Visions: The Vedala Brothers Podcast is a project that the physicians have been working on for almost two years now, and is Norman Regional’s official podcast.
With the Vedalas’ dream for this podcast in full swing, they are hoping to bridge the gap between providers and patients, providing helpful and valuable information to the public. “We started the Vital Visions podcast to bridge the gap between patients and providers—empowering listeners with insights and questions they can take to their own PCPs to take charge of their health,” said Dr. Veer Vedala.
The Vedalas hope to use their podcast to help patients start conversations with their primary care provider about difficult questions they may have. No topics are off-limits as the Vedala brothers hope to foster open communication for improved patient-centered care through Vital Visions.
Listeners will get to learn about the Vedala brothers as both physicians and as people. Their goal is to normalize conversations between patients and physicians, and to help patients gain the confidence to take concerns to their doctors.
This podcast is another way Norman Regional is working to connect with our community with compassion and excellence to better serve our patients, and to spotlight the incredible work our healers and medical professionals are doing every day.
“We’re excited to be providing this unique project to our patients and community,” said Emily Alinger, digital media coordinator for Norman Regional. “We felt that it was important to make our mark as the first health system in our region to launch a system wide podcast at the time, and the Vedala brothers were perfect for the new endeavor when we started. Now almost two years out, the information and expertise the Drs. Vedala and their guests have provided has been so valuable to our listeners.”
