On July 28, 2024, Norman Regional Health System began a new chapter in its nearly 80-year history by bringing together its acute care services under one roof at the newly expanded Norman Regional Hospital off I-35 and Tecumseh at 3300 HealthPlex Parkway.
Now, one year later, this transformation marks more than just a relocation. It represents a future-focused investment in healthcare access, innovation, and long-term community wellness for all of South-Central Oklahoma.
A System Built for the Next 80 Years
As Norman Regional approaches its 80th anniversary in 2026, one thing is clear: the mission to serve the region with compassion and excellence has never wavered. What began in 1946 as a small community hospital has steadily grown into a comprehensive health system with locations throughout Norman, Moore, Goldsby, Newcastle, Blanchard, and Midwest City. Today, Norman Regional is positioned to meet the evolving healthcare needs of the region now and for generations to come.
The consolidation of acute care services from the historic Porter campus to the newly expanded hospital was a strategic milestone, not just a change in geography, but a modernization of how and where care is delivered.
The nearly 80-year-old Porter campus served the community well for many decades. But healthcare has changed. Technology, patient needs, and care standards have evolved. The Health System’s new centralized hospital campus offers a more efficient, integrated, and state-of-the-art environment where patients receive seamless care all in one location.
Integrated and Innovative Facilities
The expansion includes:
- A Critical Care Tower with larger ICU rooms designed for both high-acuity care and family comfort
- A modernized Emergency Department with fast-track options to improve wait times and patient outcomes
- New surgical suites with advanced technology for robotic-assisted and minimally invasive procedures
- An ambulatory care building supporting outpatient diagnostics and specialty visits
- A parking garage to improve accessibility for patients and visitors
- The OU Stephenson Cancer Center at Norman Regional, which opened in June 2025 and is now bringing the latest cancer research, clinical trials, and personalized therapies directly to Norman
Every element of the redesign was built with patients in mind, from easier navigation to enhanced infection control and more collaborative care spaces for providers.
Leading the Way in Norman for Specialized Care
Norman Regional is continuing to grow and enhance its services in several key areas:
Heart and Vascular Care
With the addition of cardiac electrophysiology services led by Robin Singh, MD, Norman Regional is providing advanced care for patients with heart rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation. This new program adds to a robust cardiology line that includes diagnostic imaging, structural heart procedures like the WATCHMAN™, and preventative heart screenings.
Cardiology patients across the region now have access to advanced care, right here at home, without the need to travel to Oklahoma City or beyond.
Surgical Excellence
Norman Regional’s surgical teams are utilizing the latest in robotic-assisted surgery and outpatient techniques to reduce recovery times, minimize pain, and get patients back to their lives sooner. Procedures in orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, and more are now offered in modern, efficient surgical suites with highly trained specialists and care teams.
Cancer Care at a New Level
The opening of the OU Stephenson Cancer Center at Norman Regional has already brought a new level of cancer care to South-Central Oklahoma. Through this partnership, patients now have access to clinical trials, targeted therapies, and nationally recognized cancer specialists without leaving Norman.
This center reflects Norman Regional’s long-term goal: to make world-class care accessible to every community it serves.
Primary Care, Reimagined
With online scheduling now available for primary care appointments, Norman Regional is meeting patients where they are both digitally and physically. With clinics across the region and providers dedicated to prevention, early detection, and continuity of care, Norman Regional continues to prioritize relationships between patients and their providers.
Perinatal and Family Care
Norman Regional remains committed to providing high-quality care for mothers, babies, and growing families. With a compassionate team of OB/GYNs from Care For Women Norman and Women’s Healthcare of Norman to perinatal specialists, families across the region can count on Norman Regional from pregnancy through delivery and beyond.
Lab Services and Diagnostics
Accurate, fast, and reliable testing plays a crucial role in early diagnosis and treatment. Norman Regional’s state-of-the-art laboratory services continue to support physicians across specialties with expanded access and rapid turnaround times. All while taking care of patients apart and beyond the Norman Regional Health System.
A Vision Backed by Commitment
“The last year has been about laying the groundwork for the next 80,” said Aaron L. Boyd, MD, President and CEO of Norman Regional. “We’ve taken bold steps to transform how we deliver care, centralizing services, expanding access, and introducing new innovations that benefit every patient. Norman Regional is not just planning for the future, we’re actively building it.”
With continued investments in facilities, talent, and technology, Norman Regional is committed to being the healthcare provider of choice.
What’s Next for Norman Regional
