About Starla Givens, APRN

Starla Givens, APRN, is a nurse practitioner working with Dr. Jessica Hinojosa. She received her Bachelor’s in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Norman, Oklahoma, and her Master of Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky. Starla said she became a nurse because she had a desire to help those in need, especially women. She chose to become a women’s health nurse practitioner after 22 years of serving as a labor nurse because she wanted to be able to establish long-term relationships with her patients and impact their lives from adolescence and beyond.

“Women can expect that I will actively listen to their needs and concerns and provide education and support as we work together to determine the plan of care that best meets the needs of the woman and her family,” Starla said.

Aside from medicine, Starla enjoys spending time with her family and their three dogs, being outdoors, going to the lake, and reading.

Starla added that her family and friends refer to her as the baby whisperer because she can get babies to fall asleep almost instantly.
