James L. Bond, MD, specializes in the surgical treatment of sports injuries and orthopedic disorders of the shoulder and knee.

Dr. Bond has been married to his wife, Dr. Susan Bond, for more than 25 years. They have five children together. In his spare time, Dr. Bond enjoys coaching youth sports and working on his farm.

My surgery was Monday 2-10. Left knee scope/ clean out. Today is Wednesday so I’m two days post op. I think we made good progress. Pain level is way down. Ease of movement has improved a lot. Outstanding personality! Outstanding work! Extremely intelligent and thorough on the procedures. As a person that is 47 and has never had any pryor surgeries, I was of course nervous of the outcome. He asked me to trust him, and I am so glad I did. The recovery has been quick and light pains for the first week in a half after the surgery. Minimal to no scaring. The procedure included, a 2 cm tear in rotor, shredded upper bicep and re-anchor and huge bone spur. A flash drive was given after the procedure of audio of each part of the procedure and at the end, he and the staff sing a song. Wow……. What a great guy! Hopefully I have no more injuries, but if I do? This is the man with the plan! Thank you Doctor Bond.

I have known Dr. Bond for years, but I have only recently seen him for a medical issue (my left knee). Now I know personally why he has such a phenomenal reputation. Best doctor and surgeon in the state. He showed me videos of patients who could move their shoulders freely. Even though I knew l wanted shoulder surgery l still felt more comfortable than ever with the results of his surgery. He answered every question I had and we scheduled the surgery. I am looking forward to getting rid of my pain and lack of movement. Do not choose any other surgeon. I had another surgery from another clinic in Norman and they ended up injuring my shoulders which which were completely healthy.

We strategized the timing for the shoulder based on Dr. Bond's availability and my return from Europe. Absolute best surgery possible. I had never had surgery before and both my left and right shoukders have bone spurs which have torn my rotator cuffs. Dr. Bond did my left shoulder surgery 01/11/24 and the entire staff from the front desk to the surgical room were absolutely fabulous. Kind, caring, and reassuring and it was all genuine. Dr. Bond put my mind at ease on the day he informed me I needed surgery on both shoulders. Told me he has done literally thousands of these type of surgeries and everything should be fine once we got through them. This left shoulder felt better the day after surgery bc I could feel the bone spur was gone. Can’t wait to completely heal and get my right shoulder done! I drive 4.5 hrs one way for appointments but after this first surgery, I’d drive farther if I had to!

Dr. Bond and his team are truly exceptional surgeons. This is my third surgery (all unique) for repair related to bone spurs, torn ligaments, etc. In each case, recovery has been much easier than expected, especially when I talk to others who had similar surgery from different doctors. Forgive the old knees - but these are my two knees 6 days after a complete ACL replacement/reconstruction and repair of meniscus tear. Other than some slight swelling and bruising, I am almost recovered. I have minimal discomfort. I also know that Dr. Bond's team is available to me 24/7 if I need them for anything.

Dr. Bond suggested a couple of options for knee repair. I could have Dr. Bond scope and clean up the knee, it’s not a guarantee that it would fix the problem. Dr. Bond ask me to talk to Dr. Maupin for a possible knee replacement. Dr. Bond does not do knee replacements. So, I have an appointment with Dr. Maupin on the 15th of March. Dr. Bond is very knowledgeable when it comes to knee repair. Dr. Bond is a very likable person. The receptionist, the nurses and the X-Ray technician were very nice and approachable. Great team! Also, I mentioned to Dr. Bond that he did an ACL replacement surgery on my right knee at the Bone and Joint hospital about 16 years ago. I remembered his office used to be across the street from Norman Regional Hospital. I had a great Ortho Central experience!

Yes! He was amazing! The whole staff was amazing. We had our first visit today. Everyone, from the front office staff (Camren), to the nurse (Deneice), to the doctors. We saw the PA and Dr. Bond. Had total shoulder replacement in 2011 at age of 61. My range of motion is outstanding and no pain. Lost a little strength maybe but still work hard. That's why i went to him for knee pain. Highly recommend Dr. Bond.

Very caring Dr. Had 2 previous shoulder surgeries that didn't turn out good. Switched to Dr Bond and had 3rd surgery, it was a success! Now I am having my other shoulder done. Looking forward to surgery.

Dr Bond is professional, engaging and attentive. Dr Bond’s PA, Josie is equally professional and knowledgeable and I have all confidence in her as well. I like the lightheartedness, truth and encouragement practiced by Dr Bond and his staff. Dr Bond and his entire staff truly work to make treatment and outcome as beneficial as possible. Having the OSOI physician, surgery center and physical therapy so proficient and in close proximity were a blessing!
