About John Tedrow, MD
Dr. Tedrow is an intensivist. He specializes in the management of acute respiratory failure, sepsis, obstructive lung disease and the treatment of patients on ventilators. He has worked in Intensive Care Units (ICU) for the majority of his career.
Dr. Tedrow attended medical school at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, completed his residency at the Medical College of Virginia and a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Tedrow chose a career in medicine after experiencing severe asthma as a child.
"(This) predisposed me to being interested in diseases of the lung. What sealed the deal, however, was a MS4 rotation in the medical intensive care unit at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. I was very impressed with how my attending dealt with complex medical issues, comforted families, and provided a layer of calm even when things were crazy. I wanted to do those things with my career," Dr. Tedrow said.
Dr. Tedrow said his patients can expect him to be diligent with an attention to detail.
"I try to bring kindness and humor to my work even when dealing with very serious medical issues," he said.
Dr. Tedrow described himself as an avid sports fan, mostly for Boston-area professional teams. He also has an excellent knowledge of whisky and other distilled spirits. His favorite treat is a root beer float!
