Our highly experienced team of physicians and registered respiratory therapists treat both vulnerable newborn patients taking their first breaths to adults struggling with chronic conditions. Clinic Services

Norman Regional’s Pulmonary Care clinics offer complete and innovative pulmonary care for patients. Norman Regional has two outpatient clinics to support our community’s needs, The Pulmonary Clinic at Robinson Medical Plaza and The Pulmonary Clinic at Doctors Park. Our clinics offer:

  • Interventional pulmonology including stents, APC, ablations and fiducial marker placement
  • Cardiopulmonary exercise testing or CPET
  • Endobronchial ultrasound biopsy or EBUS and GPS-guided biopsy
  • Two pulmonary function testing rooms
  • Lung nodule program

Our team evaluates and treats:

  • Asthma
  • Lung nodules
  • Lung cancer
  • Infections
  • Emphysema

Cardiopulmonary exercise testing or CPET

Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) is an important way your physician can evaluate your exercise capacity or readiness for surgery. It is a non-invasive procedure where a patient uses a treadmill while monitored by a health professional.

Our clinics offer two dedicated rooms with Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) booths.

Hospital Services

Even in our most delicate respiratory cases, our superior care shines through.

At Norman Regional we provide 24-hour coverage hospital-wide, which includes a staff of about 50 full-time respiratory therapists. All of our respiratory therapist are credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care. We have staff with advanced credentialing staffing our emergency departments, intensive care units, the pediatric floor and the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Norman Regional is committed to our investment in respiratory technology and is one of the few hospitals in Oklahoma to offer high frequency oscillation ventilation and Nitric Oxide in our NICU.

Our highly experienced team of physicians and specially registered respiratory therapists is dedicated to providing some of the best respiratory care in the region. And because we handle the most vulnerable of infant patients, you can be sure that even the toughest adult respiratory cases are handled with the same kind of precision and care.

Norman Regional offers intensive, comprehensive respiratory care services designed to educate and treat any person with chronic lung disease. These services are designed and individually tailored for respiratory/pulmonary patients:

  • Overall lung function assessment
  • Breathing treatment
  • Ventilator care
  • Complete Pulmonary lung function testing utilizing a Body Box
  • Arterial blood gas analysis
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Disease Management Education
  • State of the art Vital Sync software that allows for remote patient monitoring of our patient's ventilator status

Two therapists routinely staff our 21-bed intensive care unit or ICU providing outstanding care to our sickest patients. Our therapists also care for patients after cardiac surgery.

We use state-of-the-art respiratory therapy equipment and technology which includes Puritan Bennett 980 Ventilators, V-60 BiPaPs, VAPOTHERM high flow oxygen therapy, MetaNeb, Capnography monitoring and “The Vest” for chest physiotherapy.

Our Medical Intervention Team includes a registered nurse and a respiratory therapist. Anyone in the hospital can page the “MIT team” and quick response from highly skilled staff helps ensure better outcomes for patients that are in need of acute care.

The Respiratory Therapy Team

Our Respiratory Therapist at Norman Regional Health System works closely with the intensive care unit staff and our critical care physicians to achieve the goals of the TICU (Transformation of the ICU) project. These include the most up-to-date ventilator weaning and vent management protocols allowing for shorter ICU stays.
