State-of-the-art emergency services are available every second of every day at three locations in the Norman Regional Health System, with board-certified emergency medicine physicians and nurses prepared to handle any emergency.
When you arrive at the emergency room (ER), the first step is a check-in process at the reception desk. We’ll request your personal information, a reason for your visit, and the severity of your symptoms. This information helps the triage nurse prioritize patients based on the urgency of their conditions. In many cases, if your situation appears critical, you may be seen immediately; otherwise, you may be asked wait for a short period.
Once you’re called back, a nurse will take you to an examination room, where they will assess your vital signs and ask questions about your medical history, current symptoms, and any medications you’re taking. Depending on your condition, the healthcare team may order tests such as blood work, X-rays, or other imaging studies to better understand your situation.
After the initial assessment and testing, a physician or advanced practice provider will evaluate your results and discuss a treatment plan. This could involve medication, further diagnostic procedures, or even admission to the hospital if your condition requires more extensive care.
A Note for Patients Brought In By Ambulance
If your loved one was brought in by an ambulance, our team will work quickly
to stabilize them. We may need you to wait in the lobby while our team
performs lifesaving care. We will keep you informed as best we can and
notify you as soon as possible when you are able to see your loved one.
The ER staff will ensure that you are stable and comfortable throughout your visit, providing information and support as needed. Once treatment is complete, you’ll receive instructions for follow-up care and any necessary prescriptions before being discharged.
Our three locations offer the very best in expert emergency care.
We pride ourselves on having one of the state’s most experienced nursing staffs. To accomplish this, we participate in a nurse extern/intern program that attracts and mentors new RNs. Physicians support our teams by creating an atmosphere of collegiality and continuous learning.
