Our organization recognizes the value of certifications and accreditation and the impact of process improvement upon the perinatal patients we serve. We uphold a high level of staff competence and a commitment to excellence in the care of every family we serve.

Norman Regional Health System is the first program in the state of Oklahoma to be certified in Advanced Perinatal Care by The Joint Commission. This certification exemplifies our commitment to quality improvement and best practice implementation. Most importantly, it shows our dedication to the health and wellness of every growing family in our community.

Norman Regional Health System is the 1^st OB Emergency Department in the United States to achieve certification in Emergency Services – Obstetrics by The Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality. This certification demonstrates our awareness of maternal and neonatal complications that require the highest level of expertise to manage and treat when seconds count. We provide care for OB related emergencies to expectant women from 14 weeks gestation through 6 weeks post-partum.

Results:

• Early Elective Delivery - Numerous studies show early elective deliveries are associated with increased maternal and neonatal complications for both mothers and newborns, compared to deliveries occurring beyond 39 weeks and women who go into labor on their own. • Exclusive Human Milk Feeding – The American Academy of Pediatrics, World Health Organization, Department of Health and Human Services and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists continue to emphasize their positions on the impact of exclusive human milk feeding for the first 6 months of neonatal life.
