Can I Get a Tour of the Labor and Delivery Unit?
A virtual tour of the Labor and Delivery unit, as well as the Women’s & Chidren’s unit, is available 24/7.
Tell me about the Women’s & Children’s (W&C) Unit?
The Women’s & Children’s unit consists of 28 beds and is located on the 3rd floor. The W&C unit has been renovated to accommodate postpartum, newborns, Pediatrics, and GYN patients. The Newborn Nursery is also located on the W&C unit.
Do You Offer Water Births?
Our labor and delivery unit has large walk-in showers to accommodate patients desiring warm water relaxation during labor.
Do You Have Midwives on Staff?
Deliveries at Norman Regional are performed by board-certified OBGYNs. There is also an OB Hospitalist in-house 24/7 to manage any emergency that may occur.
Can I Bring My Doula?
Yes, we welcome doulas and recognize the important role they play in supporting our patients and families during birth.
Do You Offer Nontraditional Birthing Options? If I Brought Certain Equipment with Me, Would I Be Able to Use It?
We offer use of peanut balls and frequent positions changes to help with the birthing process. It’s a good idea to discuss your desired birthing options with your chosen physician before deciding on your delivery plan.
Do You Offer IVs and Fetal Monitoring?
Yes, our policies and physician orders outline IV and fetal monitoring as the safest way to deliver your care.
Do You Offer Birthing Classes or Breastfeeding Classes?
Yes, we offer a variety of classes through our Education Center at Norman Regional. We also offer online classes for those who are unable to attend class in person. You can call our education department at 405-307-1730 for more information.
How Big Is Your Labor and Delivery Unit?
Our 16-bed Labor, Delivery, and Recovery (LDR) unit is located on the second floor of the Pavilion Tower. After your delivery, you’ll be moved to the third-floor Women’s & Children’s (W&C) unit, containing 28 rooms designed with the comfort of you and your family in mind. We also offer a safe, traditional nursery and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Do you offer Lactation Services?
Yes, for breastfeeding assistance, there are full-time lactation consultants on staff.
What Happens If an Emergency Occurs?
Our highly trained staff and board-certified physicians are capable and experienced in managing any type of labor or delivery emergency. In addition, our OB Emergency Department is staffed 24/7 by in-house OB Hospitalists who can manage an emergency until your chosen physician is able to arrive at the hospital. Our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is available 24/7 to provide excellent care to newborns in need of emergency or a higher level of care.
Should I choose a Pediatrician before I deliver?
Yes, we recommended that you choose a pediatrician to provide care for your baby after delivery. However, if a pediatrician is not chosen by time of delivery or if your pediatrician lives outside of Norman a pediatrician “on call” will be assigned to care for your baby while in the hospital.
How Much Does It Cost to Deliver a Baby at Norman Regional?
Our Patient Financial Services department is happy to answer any questions you may have pertaining to costs associated with a normal delivery. Please give us a call at 405-307-1300 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for inquiries.
Can I Buy or Rent a Breast Pump at Norman Regional?
Breast pump sales and rentals are available at Norman Regional Home Medical Equipment. They can be reached at 405-307-6620, or you can stop by their office at 200 Norman Center Ct., Norman. If we can be of any other assistance, please call our lactation consultants between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at 405-307-3532.
